Guetersloh Wedding

Back in June we took a 24 hour long road trip down to Plains, TX to capture this beautiful West Texas Wedding. Melissa & Rodney are such a sweet couple. They dated 5 years ago but they just weren't ready back then. With the love and support from God and their families they finally tied the knot on June 27th 2020. I was honored to be a part of their beautiful day and capture this moments for them to remember for a life time. COVID-19 was not going to push this wedding back, they were determined to make it work in spite of everything that has been happening in the world. I for one couldn't be more pleased that they made this decision.

Plains is a small town in West Texas and it was just like I imagined Texas would be, beautiful bright sun, dusty old open roads, and a lot of southern charm. They had the sweetest ceremony located at Plains State Bank Banquet Building. The interior of the building gave an industrial Texas vibe and was perfect for my dark & moody photography style. Rodney's brother was quite the jokester and prettended he forgot the wedding bands. That of course made everyone laugh and was a great memory I got to capture during their ceremony. I'm sure they will tell their kids of that in years to come.

After the ceremony, we had to quickly get through family photos as the storm clouds started rolling in. Once family photos were complete, I followed Rodney & Melissa drove down a few really long and empty roads to a beautiful red dusty field. Truth is, while I was following them to the field, all I could see was a giant cloud of dust, I could barely make out their tail lights but did my best to keep up, haha.

The field was perfect. It was huge, empty, and the storm and sunshine were filling the sky together making the perfect back drop. I asked Rodney if I had to worry about Rattle Snakes while I was in this big open field and he said, "truthfully, yes". So I watched my step and began photographing these two beautiful people, still trying to outrun the storm. Melissa made such a gorgeous bride and their love for one another shows brightly through these images!

After we were done at the field we headed back to the Guetersloh farm to get the party started! The barn was decorated with beautiful farmhouse decor, baby's breath, eucalyptus, lavender bundles, mason jars, and burlap. It radiated southern charm. As we neared the end of the night, the storm gave way, and giant lightning strikes filled the big Texas sky. We headed out to the field for a few more night photos before it was time to dance & cut the cake. Texas storms are nothing like Pennsylvania or Ohio thunderstorms. Tumble weeds flew across the roads, dust clouds were everywhere, and the lighting strikes were bigger than I ever thought imaginable. I would say I was able to experience Texas in a big, beautiful way. I am so thankful that Melissa & Rodney chose me, out of everyone in the US to capture their love and that they trusted me to travel from one end of the country to the other to be a part of their day.

Melissa & Rodney,

Thank you for being so amazing and fun! I hope you two enjoy your wedding photos! I know your marriage is going to be just as beautiful and as strong as the both of you, with God in the middle and your families love and support! Thank you again for trusting me to capture these moments for you two.
