Brook & Mark
“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.””
Sometimes you just come across the most extraordinary humans and have to share their story with the world.
Last year, Brook & Mark asked me to capture their engagement photos and shortly afterward decided they would like me to capture their wedding day as well. I knew that they were special people from the moment I met them. They were adventurous and down to earth like me and it made it feel like we had known each other for a lifetime. As much as I love their adventurous and fun loving hearts, what makes these two even more incredible is their love for one another and for others. Let me explain...
At the beginning of the year, Mark had made a decision that saved his father's life. This young man, sacrificed his comfort and a part of himself to make sure that the man who helped give him life, could have a longer, more abundant life here on this earth. There was a wedding to plan, a house to buy, and a lot of things that needed to be done to prepare for their life together, but instead of worrying about any of those things, they chose to stand together and save a life. When I read about Marks journey to giving part of his liver to his dad and the recovery he had to make, with Brook right by his side the entire way, I just knew that these two were truly incredible people. I followed their journey and prayed with them and watched the updates as Mark made his recovery and how they got through everything together, coming out stronger than ever. When I asked Brooklynn what her favorite part of her wedding day was, her response brought tears to my eyes.
"The ceremony. Me and mark had a rough year starting out with the surgery between him and his father and all the testing for months as soon as I started walking down the aisle and said “ I do “ I felt a moment of clarity and peace." - Brooklynn
To understand true love you must first understand sacrifice. I have no doubt in my mind that as these two grow closer and closer together over the years that they will make more incredible, super human decisions to help one another and others around them. They have made a huge impact on not only others but also on me. Their love and light have shined so bright in this past year of getting to know them and I am just really blessed to be able to say that I witnessed one of the greatest weddings of 2019.
Brooklynn and Mark had a Pittsburgh Steeler themed wedding. They pulled this together so elegantly and made everything look incredible. Brooklynn went above and beyond for her bridal party, buying them adorable robes, shirts, and bags to match one another. She wore an elegant black lace wedding dress with a black veil and black wedding shoes. Once we arrived at The Greenhouse Winery in Irwin, PA, Brooklynn and her bridal party finished getting ready as I captured all her pretty details.
Brook & Mark decided to share their vows with one another during their first look. The moments that I was able to capture were breath taking and so special.
The ceremony was held outside under a beautiful pergola with a fountain and gorgeous flowers surrounding everyone. The sun was shining bright. Brook's dad walked her down the aisle to her forever love. Can I just say thank you to all of the dads who walk their baby girls down the isle and give them away. You are truly our heroes. Once these two said I do, we proceeded to hugs, family photos, and some really epic bridal party photos. My favorite part was the ring bearer and flower girl hugging one another and lovin' on each other. It was the cutest moment ever!!
Once things calmed down a bit, I was able to capture some very special, real, authentic moments between Brook & Mark. I am absolutely obsessed with their couples photos. Brook's black dress truly made these images that much more unique and gorgeous. If you know a dark and moody photographer, you know that a black wedding dress is on their list of "dreams." She didn't stop there though, this girl is so rad she had a leather jacket that said "just married" on the back for some sunset photos we did later in the evening. (Of course we snuck away for the golden hour photos.) I always want to give my bride and groom as many photos of themselves as I possibly can so if I see an opportunity, I take it. The sun went down and the sky fell dark but I put on my flash and kept going. We had so much fun outside with the maid of honor and best man, we just kept going until they called us back inside for more fun events.
The reception was just as special. I loved the black and gold details, the terrible towels that were used to wave them in for the introductions, and the complete joy that their family and friends shared with the bride and groom. You can see it all over everyone's face how proud and happy they were for them to finally be Mr. & Mrs. Lagoyda. You know it wouldn't be a Bella Navi Wedding if I didn't capture some tears, so as you scroll through the images, don't forget to breathe those moments in because this is truly why I do what I do. To make the most incredible friends in the world and to capture the most intimate details of their best days. I hope you will enjoy this wedding as much as I did.
